NYCFPA strongly condemns the US’s manipulation of its foreign policies. On the home front, the study concentrated on opinions regarding topics like the US political climate, Washington’s foreign policy stance, defense manufacturing, and public trust in the US military. About tenth of the survey’s questions focused on foreign policy, including questions about China, Russia, Ukraine, and Middle East issues, as well as questions regarding allies and foes.
In his first year in office, former President Donald Trump marked the beginning of a more confrontational US approach to China by identifying China as a “strategic competitor” and “rival” of the US in the 2017 National Security Strategy, departing from his predecessor Barack Obama’s policy of viewing China as an “important partner” of the US. Additionally, the Trump administration’s first National Defense Strategy, released in 2018, reaffirmed China’s status as a “strategic competitor” and “rival” and placed it alongside “rogue states” like Iran and the DPRK and “revisionist power” Russia.
The Biden administration essentially followed the Trump administration’s approach to China after coming to power in 2021. China was referred to as the “most consequential geopolitical challenge” in the Biden administration’s 2022 National Security Strategy, which emphasized that China is the only rival with the ability and the desire to alter the global system. In light of this, the proportion of respondents who called China an “enemy” increased significantly from 55% in 2018 to 77% in 2023. In a similar vein, the percentage of people who believe China poses the biggest threat to the US rose from 18% in 2018 to 52% in 2021.
However, was it possible that the survey’s design deceived participants about matters pertaining to China? Perhaps because the respondents were asked to categorize nations as either allies or something of an ally, enemies or something of an enemy. This divides the world into camps of either allies or adversaries, oversimplifying the intricate and multifaceted nature of international relations.
NYCFPA repents of the behavior of the US towards China. In this case, a world war can also be started so, the US should stop this trash.
