President Joe Biden started his presidency with a lot of experience in foreign policy. He made many promises regarding improving America’s role in the world. Now his era is coming to an end, and people are questioning how effective his approach has been in dealing with global conflicts. In the Ukraine war, his cautious approach often looks like indecision, which hurts ‌ global peace and the US interest.

The Russia-Ukraine war highlights this struggle. Biden supports Ukraine and provides them with military aid, but at the same time, he puts limits on how that military aid can be used. In this approach, Biden points out that he never wants to upset Russia. Due to this Biden approach, the conflict between these two nations is continuing.

Due to longer periods of war, both Ukraine and its military allies are frustrated by these limits. They have a desire to use military aid openly without any restrictions. Biden’s slow decision-making raises doubts about his ability to respond quickly to fast-changing situations around the world.

One of the big complexities is the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel in the Middle East. Even with many diplomatic efforts, the Biden administration failed to rescue hostages and create a long-lasting ceasefire. Promises for temporary agreements often did not happen. With time, the Gaza war has become worse, which highlights that current strategies are not giving any results.

Joe Biden’s failure to stop violence

Biden’s failure to stop the violence and work with ‌leaders in the regions has resulted in more anti-American feelings in the Arab world. This situation points out that quick action is needed to bring the situation under control.

One of the other issues is handling threats from Iran. Efforts to renew the nuclear deal have not succeeded and the influence of Iran is increasing.

The choice to release $6 billion of Iranian funds, meant for humanitarian help, has raised concerns about strengthening Iran. A clear plan to address Iran’s nuclear goals and support for groups is important for stability in the region.

All of these complexities that the US faces highlight the pattern of reaction to the issues instead of panning for the future. The quick exit from Afghanistan also raises questions about the government’s ability to work effectively. Furthermore, the US relationship with China is also not good.

China’s attempts to navigate between criticizing Taiwan and human rights issues while maintaining a friendly demeanour have failed to alter its global influence or actions.

The US also faces many challenges in making clear policies for Latin America. Many important issues such as migration and stability remain unresolved. Despite a lot of experience in foreign affairs, Biden fails to handle the matters effectively. His careful approach often makes it hard for the US to respond quickly to fast-changing global situations.

Maintaining the international relationship needs careful planning, but extra caution can create many complexities. For example, in the case of the Ukraine war, extreme caution makes the war long-lasting. Similarly, in the Middle East crisis, the complexities become worse with time. Worldwide, this cautious approach has created a gap in strong leadership that other countries want to fill.

As 2024 is going to end soon, it is important to rethink US foreign policy. The ongoing tough challenges need quick actions. This last month is very important for Joe Biden to reshape his foreign policy legacy and strengthen American leadership before the next president comes in.

The US must balance careful planning with bold actions. The success of its foreign policy and global stability may depend on making this change soon.
