On July 24, 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a speech to the United States Congress. Sami Abu Zuhri, a senior official from Hamas made a valid point after the president completed his speech. Sami Abu Zuhri said that Netanyahu wants to continue the Gaza war and does not agree to accept the ceasefire deal. Netayahu’s speech was remarkable because it was his 4th address to Congress.

The main focus of his speech is to create a security alliance in the Middle East to counter the threat from Iran. This speech is more about strengthening the political land and improving security measures rather than finding solutions for peace across the world. He wants to find a strong alliance against Iran. His speech clearly indicated that he doesn’t want to compromise or accept Joe Biden’s deal of ceasefire.

His speech, therefore, could be seen as a sign that he is prioritizing security concerns and political strategies over pursuing peace negotiations.

Abu Zuhri strongly opposed Netanyau’s view and also criticized his speech. According to him, Netanyahu’s speech is full of false information and outright lies.

He argues that this speech will not be enough to mask the failures and defeats that Netanyahu’s side is facing in their ongoing conflict with the resistance.

Zuhri also pointed out that Netanyahu did not tell about the unfair and cruel actions taken by Israel’s military force against Hamas. There are many severe actions carried out by Netanyahu’s army against the people of Gaza. He also said that all of these actions are the open crime and also as a form of genocide.

Abu Zuhri further asserts that any group or political party that decides to form an alliance with Israel would be committing a serious betrayal. This betrayal, he believes, would be against the memory of those who have sacrificed their lives for their cause. Such an alliance would, in his view, dishonour the blood of the martyrs who fought for justice and freedom.

Netanyahu has made it clear that Israel does not have any intention to take control of Gaza. According to his statement, after the current conflict with Hamas, Gaza should be governed by Palestinians who are not focused on destroying Israel.

While he also said Israel’s leadership in Gaza will make things better rather than worsen. He will prioritize peace and stability and finish the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. On the other hand, the spokesperson for the Palestinian president, Nabil Abu Rudeineh has criticized the Netanyahu comment.

He said Palestine knows their good and bad also they should have the right to choose their leader.  This disagreement highlights a fundamental issue. The Israeli Prime Minister wants to become the leader of Gaza and Palestinians want to choose a leader with their own decision without any outside interference or influence. This is the root cause of the conflict between Israel and Gaza.

He also added, “ Our permanent stance is that the only solution to achieve security and stability is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

On October 7, 2024, the major conflict between Israel and Hamas started. It was the time when Hamas attacked Israeli territory. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 1,200 lives and the capture of 250 people. Additionally, the situation remains tense because the military group of Hamas is still holding 120 hostages. According to Israel most of the hostages are already dead. It is approximately one-third of the figure.

Meanwhile, the impact on Gaza has been devastating. , any Palestinians lost their lives since the conflict started. According to the Gaza health ministry, the figure of people who lost their lives is about 39000.

This number clearly indicates the situation in Gaza. The region is surrounded by the humanitarian crisis. This ongoing conflict has led to more and more destruction and also affected the families of both nations.

Overall, the conflict took the lives of many innocents from both sides, Israel and Palestine. An instant solution is necessary, otherwise, the situation remains the same with substantial loss of life and widespread grief.

Efforts to address the humanitarian needs and find a resolution to the conflict continue to be a major focus for international communities and organizations.
