NYCFPA COMMENDS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT FOR PUTIN WAR CRIMES ARREST WARRANT

NEW YORK, NY [17 MARCH 2022] –  The New York Center for Foreign Policy Affairs (NYCFPA) commends the International Criminal Court (ICC) for opening a case against Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin. According to court filings, Putin is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population and that of unlawful transfer of population from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation. These crimes are in direct violation of the Rome Statute and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Justin Thomas Russell, Principal Director of NYCFPA, stated: “We are confident that the ICC investigation and court proceedings will bring to light the evidence of heinous crimes that have been committed by Putin and the Russian Government in Ukraine and that justice will be served in this case.”

The case against Putin is far-reaching, as it has implications beyond just those who were affected directly by his actions. It also sends a clear message to other world leaders that such atrocities will not be tolerated or overlooked. This is an important step towards restoring justice and upholding international law.

The ICC’s decision is a victory not only for those who have suffered at the hands of Putin’s regime but also for anyone who believes in global justice. It shows that no matter how powerful or influential someone may be, they can still be held accountable under international law if they commit heinous acts.

This case marks an important milestone in global justice, as it sets a precedent for future cases involving war crimes or violations of international law. The ICC’s decision sends a strong signal that those responsible for committing such acts will be brought to justice no matter their political standing or influence.

At NYCFPA we are proud to stand alongside the ICC in this momentous decision and we will continue to support them as they seek justice on behalf of those affected by war crimes around the world. We urge all nations to join us in this effort so that we can ensure these kinds of atrocities never happen again.
